and more Scottish Lute Music from the Balcarres, Rowallan, Straloch, and Wemyss Manuscripts

The Festival is excited to present Sean Shibe’s “uncompromisingly monumental” (The Scotsman) project softLOUD which premièred to enormous critical acclaim at the East Neuk and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals in 2017.

This revelatory and intriguing programme juxtaposes Jacobean lute music for classical guitar, with electric guitar arrangements of multi-tracked repertoire, including US Pulitzer prize winning composers Julia Wolfe’s powerful elegy LAD, (originally written for nine bagpipes) and David Lang’s Killer.

Affectionately known as the “Box on the Docks”, this concert’s unique venue is at the centre of barge life in Dublin’s Grand Canal Basin

Presented in association with Waterways Ireland
